Are made in USA rawhide chews safe for dogs?

What "made in USA" means on a Pet Factory bag

Pet Factory sells two beefhide families. Chews labelled 100% Made in USA use hide from American-raised, corn-fed cattle and are processed in the company's own plant in the USA. Chews labelled American Beefhide use the same American hide but do not claim USA processing. Both state no dangerous additives or preservatives, and the USA-made line is 99% digestible, according to the listings.

Safety certifications

Pet Factory was the first in its industry to embrace GFSI — Global Food Safety Initiative — certification for its plant, and the Twistedz line carries the ITS program: a QR code on the bag links to independent test data for that product.

Size is the biggest safety factor

Every Pet Factory label says the same thing: choose a chew longer than the length of your dog's muzzle. A chew that is too small can be swallowed whole; one that is long enough has to be worked from the side with the back teeth, which is also where it does the most dental good.
